The speculation went back and forth throughout the season, from a 1-3 start that included losses to South Florida and Pitt to a four-game win streak and 6-1 run, and then after a 45-21 loss at Georgia.
Paul Johnson never hinted as to whether this would be his last one at Georgia Tech, and that speculation figured he’d be more likely to go out on a high note. That will have to be one game, Georgia Tech’s bowl game, rather than a good season, Johnson announcing his retirement Wednesday.
