Georgia Tech rolls Louisville

          Five Yellow Jackets scored on the ground, and three scored twice, as Georgia Tech embarrassed Louisville 66-31.

          Northside grad Tobias Oliver scored twice while gaining 103 yards on eight carries. Lamar County’s Qua Searcy scored twice on three rushes.

          Quarterback TaQuon Marshall ran 23 times for 175 yards and two scores, while completing one of his two pass attempts.

          Tech outrushed Louisville 542-113, and carried 65 times en route to holding onto the ball for more than 33 minutes to improve to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the ACC.

Georgia College adds two to Hall of Fame

          Baseball player Justin Mills and softball player Joni Frei are the latest additions to the Georgia College Athletics Hall of Fame.

          Mills was a consensus first-team All-American in 2007, as well as Peach Belt Conference player of the year.

          Frei holds several record team records, and is the program’s first three-time all-conference player.

Honor Roll

          Mercer's softball team is among the top 25 teams on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association academic team list.

          The Bears are No. 25 with a 3.516 GPA, as the top Southern Conference team. Grand Canyon was first with a 3.790.

          The soccer team is one of 289 to be recognized, and one of four Southern Conference teams. Teams must have a 3.0 GPA for the entire year. ...

          Abigail Zoeller of Mercer is the SoCon women’s soccer player of the month.

          She leads the conference with 24 ponts and 58 shots, and is tied for first with nine goals and six assists. …

          Georgia Southern's Logan Hunt, a senior from Washington County, is the latest Sun Belt Conference defensive player of the week.

          He had a career-high nine total tackles as the Eagles D was clutch against the Arkansas State offense. He also had a career high 3.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks as the Eagles came up with six sacks in the game.

          Hunt leads the Sun Belt and is 16th nationally in sacks per game. ...

          Mercer forward Trevor Martineau is the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week.

          The Bears beat Presbyterian and Georgia Southern, and Martineau had an assist and then the game-winner against PC. He had one of the Bears' two goals in the win over GSU. ...

          Mercer's Tee Mitchell is the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week.

          Mitchell had career-highs of 25 carries and three rushing touchdowns along with 129 yards in Mercer's 48-38 win over    The Jacksonville, Fla. native leads the conference with 416 rushing yards, and is second with five rushing TDs.

          The marketing major has a GPA above the 3.3 needed for the honor. He earned CoSIDA academic All-American honors in 2015.
