Friday
Class 6A
Valdosta 55, Houston County 14
Northside 30, Coffee 20
Coffee’s non-region schedule did not prepare it for Region 1-6A play, and Northside made the No. 2 Trojans pay. The Eagles were patient, getting three Cory Munson field goals (53, 23, and 34 yards) to take a 9-7 lead, and they were on their way. Kentrez Anthony returned an interception for a touchdown, and Eric Smith scored from 21 yard out with 1:49 left in the half for a 23-7 lead at the break. Coffee had given up only 10 more points all year than the Eagles put up in the first half. The visitors got within 10 midway through the third quarter, but Jadin Daniels connected with Keuntae Stewart for 54 yards two minutes later to return the lead to 17. A Northside mistake led to a touchdown with 7:32 left when Coffee returned a fumble for a touchdown. But the Northside defense stopped things right there. Northside outgained Coffee 357-320 on 15 fewer plays, Daniels going 7 for 13 for 143 yards with a score and no interceptions, adding a game-high 130 yards on 22 carries, Smith chipping in 93 on 12. Northside held Coffee to 3.1 yards per carry, and had three sacks.
Class 5A
Bainbridge 27, Veterans 14
The Warhawks appeared set to make a serious fourth-quarter rally, down by six with the ball near midfield, a second-and-2 situation with just under three minutes left. But a reverse pass was intercepted and returned 50 yards for the clinching touchdown and end Veterans’ perfect season. The Warhawks had four turnovers, had a field goal blocked late in the first half. Cyrus Zuell had 79 yards on 13 carries, and QB Sebastian Verger was 10 of 13 for 160 yards, but was held to minus-17 yards rushing.
Warner Robins 41, Harris County 0
Dutchtown 18, Jones County 10
Dutchtown defensive end William Anderson came up big in the battle between undefeated teams. The Greyhounds led 10-6 after one, getting a scoop-and-score from Cameron Rockmore and 37-yard field goal from Evan West. Dutchtown went up 18-10 in the second. The Bulldogs got an interception in the end zone early in the second half, and then the visitors held on, Anderson getting a game-ending sack with the ball at the Dutchtown 32.
Class 4A
Howard 35, Perry 16
Howard set up one touchdown with a fake punt, a pass to DeAndre Shelton, and came up with three straight second half turnovers. QB Quintan Sewell completed five passes for 133 yards, four for 112 yards to Javarsia Meadows, who also had five carries for 104 yards.
Mary Persons 49, Upson-Lee 14
Undefeated Mary Persons led 7-0 after one, but exploded to take a 28-7 halftime lead, Quen Wilson scoring three times and Kelvin Harden adding a 60-yard pick-6. Daymon Thomas had 93 yards on 15 carries and a score for Upson-Lee, but Mary Persons’ defense stepped up against QB Jake Davis and picked him off four times - his first four interceptions of the season - while holding him to four completions. The Bulldogs ran for 312 yards and passed for 204.
West Laurens 14, Spalding 2
A.J. Holmes passed for both Raiders’ touchdowns.
Baldwin 28, Richmond Academy 21, OT
Richmond County was undefeated and Baldwin had one win going into the game. But the Braves royally ruined homecoming, QB Torez Hicks scoring to force overtime and Noah Hill’s 23-yard run in overtime winning it. Baldwin trailed 21-7, the score coming on Trey Trawick’s 19-yard INT return. Hill scored in the third quarter, and Hicks tied it from the 5 with 1:48 left, Lucas Webb perfect on all PATs.
Class 3A
Central 34, Kendrick 0
It was Central’s largest margin of victory since opening the 2016 season with a 48-14 win over Mount de Sales, and first shutout since 20-0 over Kendrick on Sept. 24, 2016.
Westside 40, Jackson 7
The Seminoles picked up their best road win since 42-0 over Kendrick on Sept. 25, 2015.
Pike County 48, Rutland 2
The Pirates led only 7-2 after one, but then cruised in a game a week after teammate Dylan Thomas collapsed and a day after he was buried.

Dublin 34, Dodge County 10

The surprise wasn’t who won, but by how much. The Irish led 21-0 at halftime and 34-3 after three quarters. It’s Dodge County’s first regular-season loss since Oct. 14, 2016, 18-14 to Washington County, and worst regular-season loss since 62-16 by Washington County at the end of 2013.
Northeast 27, Southwest 26, 2 OT
Southwest scored late to tie it, and the teams traded a touchdown and missed conversion in the first OT. Northeast scored and converted in the second OT, and Southwest answered, but failed on the two-point conversion to win it. Terrious Miles led Northeast with 104 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, while QB Nolan Ussery added 77 and one on 18, plus went 8 for 14 for 169 yards, with three interceptions.
Washington County 54, Bleckley County 20
The Golden Hawks led 47-13 at halftime, and have cracked 47 points in four straight games.
Callaway 45, Lamar County 6
Class A
Macon County 46, Crawford County 3
Dooly County 32, Hawkinsville 6
Schley County 41, Taylor County 7
FPD 43, Wilkinson County 26
Wilkinson County was in a rare position: the lead. The Warriors led 8-7 after a safety and touchdown, and then failed conversion. That woke up the Vikings, who scored twice in the second quarter – Coleman Cauley caught a 20-yard TD pass from Jackson McCart and then ran 57 yards for a score – for a 22-8 halftime lead. A three-touchdown third quarter on Grey Jones 29-yard interception return, Cauley’s 29-yard run, and Josh Raines’ 8-yard run put the Vikings in complete control. Cauley ran five times for 87 yards and Raines 10 times for 75 yards.
Warren County 38, GMC 6
ACE 47, at Glascock County 10
Greene County 31, Hancock Central 14
Mount de Sales 35, Twiggs County 0
The Cavs picked up their biggest win since hammering Pacelli 57-6 in last year’s opener, getting one passing touchdown and two rushing scores from Dexter Williams, who had 173 yards on 15 carries, part of the Cavs’ 362-yard ground attack. Jaden Wilson added five carries for 76 yards and two scores. MdS, which held Twiggs County to 73 yards total offense, led 21-0 at halftime. It was the Cavs’ biggest shutout since a pair of back-to-back 49-0 wins in 2011 over TCS-Sharpsburg and Griffin Christian.
Tattnall 21, Stratford 19
Stratford scored on fourth and goal with 1:12 left, but Tattnall’s defense stiffened and stopped the conversion, and then recovered the onside kick.
GISA
Trinity Christian 28, Augusta Prep 7
Frederica 48, Westfield 3
John Milledge 29, Bulloch 14
It was quite the battle of undefeated for three quarters, John Milledge taking a 14-7 lead into the fourth. The Trojans went up two touchdowns on Brandon Bellflower’s 1-yard run and a conversion pass, but Bulloch came back with a score to get within a touchdown. The Trojans added the capper on Bellflower’s 3-yard run and Hunter Knowles’ kick. Amaad Foster had 112 yards rushing for JMA, still undefeated.
Piedmont (2-2-1) at Crisp (2-3)
Brentwood 20, Robert Toombs 14
Brentwood got the most out of three completions, going for 117 yards and a touchdown. Chase Everett’s 2-yard run and the two-point conversation gave the War Eagles a 20-7 lead with 6:52 left in the third, and Robert Toombs scored with 8:47 left in the fourth, but Brentwood’s defense held on. The War Eagles were more than doubled in first downs, 15-7, and outgained 253-90 on the ground and 267-207 in total offense.
GICAA
Central Fellowship 39, Georgia Christian 0
