Softball

FPD 6, Stratford 5

          Olivia Parker ended things with a two-out walk-off homer to stay undefeated in the 7-A tournament. Stratford scored one in the top of the seventh to take the lead. Parker went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Karsen Ochs had two hits and two RBI and Cassie Sutton two hits. Ochs gave up 10 hits, but fanned seven with no walks. Shelby Bandt, Taylor Justice, and Kenne McElmurray had two hits each for Stratford.

GMC 12, Lincoln County 1

          The area’s highest ranked Class A public team put the hammer down with six runs in the second and third inning, Lincoln County committing four errors. Whitley Ward and Mallory Watts had two hits each, Ward driving in a game-high two runs. Cade Bass, Makenna Talcott, Mary Katherine Lawrence, and Watts each scored two runs as Bella Herring and Jordan Spear split the pitching duties.

Harris County 5, Veterans 3

          Veterans tied it with three runs in the sixth, but Harris County scored twice in the top of the seventh and then retired the Warhawks in order in the bottom half. Emily Myers had two hits and two RBI for Veterans.

Hawkinsville 3, Wilcox County 0

          Kirsten Wolters went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Danielle Powers added two hits and a three-hit pitching performance for the Red Devils.

Rutland 7, Jackson 4

          The Hurricanes got all seven runs in the first two innings and held on despite four errors. Bailey Caldwell went 2-for-3 with four RBI and Taylor Stewart 2-for-4 with two RBI for Rutland, with Kinleigh King, Keely Bryant, Breasia Davis and Kaitlyn Greene adding two-hit nights. Caldwell fanned seven with no walks.

SGA 1, Westfield 0

Tattnall 5, Mount de Sales 1  

          The Trojans got ahead early and held the host Cavs to a run, as both teams committed three errors. Kenna Epps had two hits for the Trojans, who had three unearned runs. Epps gave up four hits in the complete game win. Logan Oller and Kaci Paul drove in runs for Tattnall in the Region 7-A tournament win. Caroline Allman had two of MdS’ four hits.
