Howard 1, Hampton 0; Hampton 6, Howard 4
Howard didn’t have as much offense hit-wise, but Elle Doolittle kept Hampton from scoring with a nine-strikeout four-hitter. The Huskies managed a run in the third on a walk to Kayla Roberts, two outs, two stolen bases and, amazingly, a dropped third strike that allowed Roberts to score. Doolittle stranded eight Hampton runners. Hampton scored three in the top of the seventh to win the second game, helped by four errors that four unearned runs. The Huskies put all their runs up in the second, and Hampton chipped away until the seventh. Abby Mitchell had two of Howard’s four hits and Beth Dorough had three RBI. Doolittle struck out 12 and walked two in the eight-hitter. Howard batters struck out 14 times.
Westfield 12, Heritage 0; Westfield 14, Heritage 1
A pair of six-run innings shortened the first game. Ellie Williams went 3-for-3 with two runs, and Emma Williams drove in three runs on two hits. Sadie Hayes and Brooke Corlee added two hits and Riley Hickok three RBI. Emma Williams struck out eight with one walk and one hit in four innings. The Hornets needed only the first two innings to shorten things in the nightcap, putting 12 runs across. Avery Adams had three hits, three RBI, and two runs in the second game, while Marena Knowles had two hits and two RBI, Emma Williams two hits, and Hayes and Ellie Williams two RBI each. Hickok whiffed five with a walk in the four-inning three-hitter.
