Macon loses final two to Savannah
Savannah took the lead, Macon fought back and forced extra innings, and the Bananas took over from there for an 11-6 win in the second game of a doubleheader in Macon’s final regular-season game at Luther Williams.
Savannah won the first game 3-1.
Macon had a 3-1 lead through six in the nightcap, thanks to a Conner Corbitt (Stratford) two-run homer, but Savannah put four on the board in the seventh, on two-run singles by Clay Dungan and Hunter Wilson. The inning included three walks, one intentional.
Corbitt sent the game toward extra innings with a two-run homer in the ninth, but Savannah’s offense exploded in the eighth – the extra inning – with six on an two errors, three singles, a fly out, and a walk. Corbitt had two hits and four RBI.
In the seven-inning first game, Savannah scored two in the first and the eventual game-winner in the seventh.
Witt Campbell (Middle Georgia State) gave up two runs on four hits in six innings in the loss, the Bacon managing only three hits.
The final day of action will determine the playoff scenario.
