Former Macon County quarterback K'Hari Lane is one of the biggest losers on the Arizona roster.

          Of weight.

The Arizona Star listed who lost and gained the most weight from the Foster Farms Bowl until the end of July.

Lane dropped 23 pounds, the most, topping offensive lineman Tshiyombu Lukusa by a pound, to 222 pounds.

Lane's weight, and accompanying perceptions, in high school apparently chased away some major-college recruiters, keeping him available for Arizona and former head coach Rich Rodriguez.

The redshirt freshman opened practice No. 2 behind junior Khalil Tate. Sophomore Rhett Rodriguez is in the hunt, as are freshmen Jamarye Joiner and Kevin Doyle.

WildcatAuthority.com on Friday speculated that Lane was behind the other three backups.

"Lane has not shown much potential and while he has not been awful, there's just nothing that would cause us to put him ahead of the other guys." ...

Willie Jordan started the summer preparing for a college football season at Lenoir-Rhyne, a Division II program in Hickory, North Carolina.

But he has suited up a little closer to home, deciding in mid-summer to go to Fort Valley State.

The Northside grad originally signed with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M junior colllege in the winter of 2014 and played there before transferring to Highland (Kansas) Community College.

He's joined by a slew of Central Georgians: kicker Eli Mashburn of Warner Robins, quarterback Garrel Quainton of West Laurens by way of GMC JC, wideout Willie Westbrook of Hawkinsville, defensive back Cam Young of Dodge County, defensive back Brian WIlliams of Dublin, defensive backs Octavius Hall and Jontavious Davis of Peach County, linebacker Braxton Golden of NoOrthside, linebacker Zaquan Baldwin of Southwest, offensive lineman Emanuel Boone of Westside.

Also, offensive lineman Dillon Braunstein of Warner Robins, Jeremiah Cotton of Mount de Sales, tight end Jaylen Lowder of Veterans, defensive lineman Eric WIlliams of Warner Robins, wideout Jhi'Marre Brown of Veterans, defensive lineman Albert Sharpe of Southwest, and defensive lineman Stacy Ivey Jr. of Southwest.
