What appeared to be a routine court appearance on Thursday may be more for Quintez Cephus.

The Wisconin State Journal reported Tuesday night that Cephus’s lawyers want evidence from prosecutors that proves the two women Cephus is charged with sexually assaulting were not as intoxicated as believed.

The women reportedly told law enforcement they were “drunk beyond the ability to consent to sex.” The attorneys believe there is substantial evidence – ranging from security camera footage to text messages and social media updates – that proves that wasn’t the case for either woman.

Cephus will appear in court on Thursday to address two sexual assault charges - third-degree sexual assault and second-degree sexual assault of an intoxicated victim - filed by the Dane (Wisc.) County District Attorneys Office.

The charges emerged publicly on Monday, and Cephus was soon suspended from the team.
