Friday's Braves Report: One inning hurts Folty; Ozzie is fearless; no top draft pick signing; Fried to DL; minor-league update; observations

Folty sharp, except for one inning, but Braves lose

This time, it was Mike Foltynewicz’s turn to struggle early on, although his struggle was for only one inning.

Milwaukee scored three in the fifth, Atlanta got within one but that was it in the Brewers’ 5-4 win.

Atlanta has lost four in a row for the first time this season, and was the last team in the majors to suffer such a streak.

Foltynewicz stayed in the game despite the big inning, in part because the Brewers were just hitting him. Through six innings, he had seven strikeouts and no walks, and, well, two homers surrendered.

The Braves were matching the Brewers with hits, but not runs. Still, a three-run seventh made it a game.

Nick Markakis singled, Kurt Suzuki walked and Johan Camaro singled to load the bases. Ronald Acuna’s infield single brought in a run, and Acuna then left the game with a groin issue.

Dansby Swanson followed with a two-run single, and advanced to second, pinch-runner Charlie Culberson to third.

Reliever Dan Jennings came on and ended things with three straight outs, on a strikeout, grounder back to the mound and grounder to third.

Jesse Biddle took over for Foltynewicz in the seventh, and it was a 1-2-3 inning. He stranded a runner in a quiet eighth.

Atlanta lost a one-out, two-on situation in the eighth with an inning-ending double play in the eighth.
