Tuesday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media.
Rare struggles for Newcomb, winning streak stopped
Hopes that one of Atlanta’s money starters of the season would be able to give the bullpen a break were dashed early, and Atlanta lost to the NY Yankees.
Sean Newcomb didn’t have it, and the Braves offense needed half a game to get going, and got to within one before the Yanks got some late insurance.

Bacon pull out extra-inning win
Gastonia tied it in the top of the ninth, but gave it away with an error in the bottom of the 10th for a 3-2 Macon win at Luther Williams.
The Coastal Plain extra-inning rule opens with a runner on first and second. Macon’s defense came up big in the top of the 10th, and Gastonia’s didn’t, an error allowing K Crawford to score the game-winner.
Pitchers Jordan Dubberly, James Williams, Matt Minnick, and Isaac Hale teamed for 12 strikeouts and six walks in the four-hitter.
Cal Gentry (Perry/Georgia College) and Brandon Michie (Mercer) had two hits each for Macon.
Macon is at Forest City Wednesday and Florence Thursday, hosts Savannah on Friday and is at Savannah on Saturday, then off before going to Savannah again on Wednesday.
