Braves-Yankees have fun, go extras, pen bows up
Ronald Acuna belted the game-winning homer in the top of the 11th, but the story was Atlanta’s bullpen in the 5-3 win over the Yankees.
That and more at The Braves Report.
Mercer men add to staff
Elvis Kisonas’s term as a graduate assistant with the Mercer men’s basketball team came to an end.
His job hunt didn’t last long.
Kisonas was named the Bears’ director of basketball operations on Monday, succeeding Josh Davis, who left after a season to join the staff of former Mercer assistant Jason Eaker at Oklahoma Baptist.
Kisonas is from Lithuania, moved to North Carolina as a child, and was a manager for Gardner-Webb’s team.
Mercer’s Rivers on NBA summer league roster
Demetre Rivers will get another chance to impress the pros, having earned a spot on the Charlotte Hornets’ summer league roster, the latest ex-Bear to get a summer shot.
Rivers, a 6-8, 180-pounder from Ladson, S.C. , started for three years at Mercer and graduated in May. His 1,065 career points are 33rd on Mercer’s list.
Rivers and the Hornets start the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League season on Friday on ESPNU against Oklahoma City. Games are on an ESPN channel or NBA TV.
