Friday's Braves Report (second edition, 10:30 p.m.)

 

Braves open second half with road win

          Anibal Sanchez gave up two homers, but struck out six and walked three in six innings as Atlanta belted eight extrabase hits in an 8-5 win over Washington.

The Braves led 2-1 after two, and eased ahead with three in the fifth.

          Ronald Acuna doubled and Charlie Culberson singled, both coming in on Freddie Freeman’s double. Freeman went to third on the throw home and then scored on Nick Markakis’s sac fly to center.

           Acuna went 3-for-4 with three runs after moving to the leadoff spot, while Culberson,  Freeman, and Johan Camargo each had two hits, Freeman driving in three runs with a double and two singles. Culberson and Acuna belted homers.

          Steven Strasburg fell to 6-7 with the loss and Sanchez improved to 5-2.

          Jesse Biddle gave up two runs in two innings in relief for Atlanta, A.J. Minter getting his fifth save.
