Seattle leaves Atlanta, and huge crowd, with a tie

          Another MLS record crowd in Atlanta showed up, but left disappointed, Seattle managing a 1-1 tie with the United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Georgia connections help USA to Futures win

          Taylor Trammell of Powder Springs was the MVP in the USA’s power-driving 10-6 win over the World in Sunday’s Futures All-Star game.

          He belted a late-game triple off Braves minor-leaguer Touki Toussaint of the World team, and gave up a run. Atlanta’s Kyle Wright came on with two on in the eighth and got three quick outs in short work.

          Trammell, a Reds prospect, went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, belting one of the eight homers in the game.

          Infielder Carter Kieboom (Marietta/Washington) went 0-for-2, and pitcher Dylan Cease (Milton/Chicago White Sox) threw two-thirds of an inning with no hits or walks or strikeouts.

          Former Mercer standout Kyle Lewis went 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored.

          None of the above had an error.

UGA has Circle of Honor inductees set

          Hines Ward and several with NCAA national championship rings make up Georgia’s 2018 Circle of Honor.
