Central Georgia student-athletes honored with Dooley scholarships
Four Central Georgians were announced Saturday at a ceremony as finalists for the 11th annual Dooley Scholarships, named after the former longtime Georgia head football coach and athletics director.
Sadie Frame
FPD's Sadie Frame couldn't make it. She was helping the Vikings to the GHSA Class A girls soccer state title.
Joining Frame in getting a $1,000 scholarship for each of four years in college and a $500 charitable donation: Emily Harrison of Trinity Christian, Margaret Henry of Lamar County, and Sammy Martin of Stratford.
Frame has a 4.0 GPA, was the school's 2017 high school Heisman winner, helped the Vikings to the 2016 state softball title, and has been a state qualifier in track, in addition to many community service efforts.

Middle Georgia State loses lead in first-round NAIA loss
Middle Georgia State got off to a quality start in its opening game of the NAIA national baseball tournament in Lincoln, Cal.
Antelope Valley's finish, though, was better, and the Pioneers came back to beat MGS 8-6.
MGS led 5-2 after five, but Antelope Valley scored three in the seventh and two in the eighth for the win.
Trent Nash, who had an early homer, Zach Cornel, Jack Bell IV, and Mikal Flores had two hits each for the Knights.
The Pioneers got the two winning runs in the eighth after two strikeouts, but one batter reached on a dropped third strike to keep the door open. An error preceded a two-run homer.
The second-seeded Knights battle elimination at noon Tuesday against fifth-seeded British Columbia, which lost to Judson, Ill., 19-8.
The winner returns to action at 6 p.m. against Judson.

Rain delayed the start a few hours, and Virginia topped Georgia Tech 8-4 in the final game of their ACC series.
The Cavaliers more than doubled the Jackets in hits, 14-6, in a game that ended just short of 1 a.m.
