Mercer, Central Georgia Tech set for tournament play

          Mercer and Central Georgia Tech will fly the Central Georgia men's basketball banner Monday night when they compete in a pair of tournaments only about 400 miles apart.

          Mercer takes on North Texas at 8 p.m. in the College Basketball Invitational Tournament just north of Dallas, while CGTC is in Hutchinson, Kansas for the National Junior College Athletic Association national championship.

          The 21st-seed Titans face 12th-seeded Connors State at 9:30 p.m.

College Baseball: Mercer holds on to sweep EKU

          The bullpen was solid and helped make up for a so-so offense as Mercer staved off Eastern Kentucky's late rally for a 5-4 win Sunday to sweep the series.

College Baseball: Georgia College wins it in the ninth

          Georgia College needed 3 in the ninth to  get past North Georgia 9-6 on Sunday to win its fifth Peach Belt series of the season.

College Baseball: Georgia nips Alabama again

          The Tide scored 2 in the bottom of the ninth, but reliever Zac Kristofak shut the door and stranded 2 runners for a 6-5 Georgia win.

          Houston County grad Tony Locey went 1.2 innings in relief and got the win.

College Baseball: Tweaks pay off for Yellow Jackets against Hokies

          Head coach Danny Hall made a few changes between Saturday night's loss and Sunday's first pitch, and they paid off with a 10-6 win to take the series.

College Baseball: Tattnall alum leads Eagles

          Blake Simmons went 3-for-4 and drove in 2 runs to lead Georgia Southern past Louisiana 5-4 Sunday to take the series.

          The reshirt freshman from Tattnal had an RBI in the Eagles' key 4-run fourth that was the difference.

College Baseball: Georgia State loses in extras, then on a walk-off

          It was not a good trip for the Panthers, who lose 12-10 in 10 innings and then 6-5, both on walk-off home runs, to Texas Arlington.

          Georgia State has lost five straight and fell to 11-9, 0-3

College Softball: Mercer strikes early to win

          Three runs in the first two innings were enough for Mercer to edge Austin Peay in the Mecer Bears Classic.

          The Bears improved to 12-2 at home and 19-19 overall

College Softball: Georgia College hits its way to sweep

          The Bobcats got off to a pair of good starts to beat Coker 8-2 and then 13-5 in 5 innings.

          Georgia College is 19-9 and has won eight straight.
