Who won Tuesday? College roundup

Senior Nights are among the best events of the year, and Mercer made sure it was a good one.

And a few seniors were part of it.

Senior Demetre Rivers matched his season hgh with 24 points while becoming the latest member of the Bears' 1,000-point club in Mercer's 81-64 win Tuesday over Western Carolina at Hawkins Arena.

Rivers hit three 3-pointers, and senior Desmond Ringer added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore Ross Cummings had 19 points.

Jordan Strawberry will no doubt remain atop the Southern Conference in assist/turnover ratio with 8 assists and 1 turnover.

Mercer improved to 16-13/9-7 with its sixth straight win, while WCU fell to 12-17, 7-9.

Mercer survives Florida A&M's offensive barrage

The Bears and Rattlers spent all night exchanging the lead.

Florida A&M got 2 in the top of the 10th, and you'd think that would do it, but the Rattlers threw it away.

A throwing error in the bottom of the 10th brought in the winning run as Mercer nipped FAMU 11-10 in 10 innings.

Georgia Tech makes most of trip to Georgia Southern

The Yellow Jackets got control in the middle of the game with a 5-0 lead and rolled to a 7-1 win over Georgia Southern in Statesboro.

Tech improved to 2-2 and Southern fell to 1-3.

Tech got a quality pitching night from Connor Thomas and Keyton Gibson, who teamed for 8 Ks and 1 walk.

Auburn gets walk-off win over Georgia State

The Panthers had a 2-0 lead after three, and needed more. Really needed more.

Alas, Auburn got the game-tying hit from Conor Davis and game-winner from Brendan Venter for a 3-2 walk-off win Tuesday night in college baseball in Auburn.

Houston County grad Justin Jones had one of the Panthers (2-2) 5 hits.
