            Upson-Lee hosted its first-ever state playoff game, and had a strong fourth quarter to win its first-ever playoff game.

            The Raiders (16-12) gave one of the state's top teams a solid battle, led by Ja'Kerra Wilbur's 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. MaKayla Murray almost had a double-double, with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Class AAA

R4 1 Peach County 61, R3 4 Islands 35

R4 2 Central 59, R3 3 Jenkins 32

            Central had too much of a lot, with Ty Williams leading the way with 17 points and 7 assists. Nesha Goolsby had 5 assists and 14 points. Jada Clowers racked up another double-double with 11points, 14 rebounds, and 6 blocks.

R3 1 Dodge County 58, R4 4 Jefferson County 45

            Destanee Wright's 20 paced the Indians, who put 11 in the scoring column. Europe Brown added 15 and Zannessia Mitchell 10.

R3 2 Washington County 47, R4 3 Butler 32
            Nijeria Jordan had 11 points and 7 rebounds, and Nikayona Warthen 15 rebounds to lead Washington County. Destinee Ellison added 7 rebounds, and Miracle Parker 6 rebounds.

R4 2 Josey 63, R4 3 Bleckley County 31

R4 1 Laney 80, R3 4 Northeast 41

R5 1 Lamar County 52, Therrell 41

R7 1 Model 70, R8 4 Putnam County 64

            Rykia Pennamon scored 17 of her 27 in the fourth quarter to try and rally Putnam County (20-5). Jashanti Simmons added 13 points. Model led 35-17 at halftime and extended that to 44-23 midway through the third. Two years ago, Putnam County was able to finish a comeback and beat Model. Victoria Saxton, who missed some second-half time with cramps, led Model with 38 points and 17 rebounds.

            Travon Walker led Knights with 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Cameron Traylor added 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Tye Fagan got 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Zyrice Scott had 11 points and seven assists. More on this game Saturday, with video.

R1 3 Carver-Columbus 81, R2 2 Mary Persons 64

         The Bulldogs (23-5) couldn't quite make up for the loss late in the week of leading scorer and rebounder Cam Holden. Tre Edge led Mary Persons with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, while Desmond Wilson had 14 points and 5 boards and Rekia Weaver 10 points.

            The Golden Hawks needed a major effort against sub-.500 Butler, and put four in double figures. Damarius Dixon had 19 points 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Curtis Brown added 17 points, Jawan Dukes 16 and Jarden Maze 13.

            Nick Cummings had 18 for the 16-7 Indians, while DeMarcus Caines added 10.

            Ashton Bonner led the way to the upset with 15 points and 6 rebounds, while Jay Fleetwood added 14 points, Malik Crawford and Chris Pennamon 6 rebounds each.
