Rome (14-0) vs. Warner Robins (14-0)

It’s not a surprise that one team is here. It’s a shocker than the other team is here. Few give Warner Robins much of a chance, and for legitimate reasons. But there’s also the note about Rome’s schedule not being terribly tough. On the other hand, the Wolves pretty much dominated everybody, meaning they took nobody lightly. It would be surprising if suddenly they decided to overlook an undefeated team.

Maxwell Ratings margin: Rome by 17.

The Sports Report says: People – media included – keep waiting for the Demons to hit that wall, for finally the breaks to stop coming, for some nerves on the stage they’re unaccustomed to. And for 14 weeks, people – media included – have been wrong. But this time, barring a flurry of Rome injuries, odds are against Warner Robins. Rome is bigger, has more swagger, and has been making statements all season. Warner Robins will show some interesting stuff early, no doubt, because that’s what the Demons do: make you think about everything an offense can do. They have weapons, and it’d be a surprise if this game was close to Rome’s average win of 51-10. Expect the Demons to put up some points, but Rome is having one of those years. Rome by 24.

Calhoun vs. Peach County

Calhoun knows the stage, a little bit better than Peach County. The Yellow Jackets have won close games, but routed most teams. They come in with the confidence of knocking off the top team in the classification, Cedar Grove, and on the road. That’s big. Peach County gave Greater Atlanta Christian the rare home loss, and controlled the line, winning up front rather than with big plays.

Maxwell Ratings margin: Peach County by 9.

The Sports Report says: The Trojans are just on a roll, in every facet. Last week’s game wasn’t quite as close as the score, and Greater Atlanta Christian is probably better than Calhoun, which is saying something. The Trojans showed some offensive diversity last week by controlling the ball. Peach County by 16.
