Putnam County lone ranked volleyball team from Central Georgia

         Putnam County is the only Central Georgia team to earn a spot in week eight of ScoreAtlanta’s state volleyball rankings.

          The War Eagles are No. 8 in Class AA, dropping two spots from a week ago.

          The finals are Oct. 28, with Classes 4A, 5A, 6A and 7A at Marietta and Classes A, AA and AAA at Holy Innocents’.

          Last year, Veterans in Class 5A and Mount de Sales in Class A made the championship round.

          Area winners must be determined by Saturday, Oct. 7. The first round begins on Oct. 11 for Classes 3A, 5A and 7A, with Classes A, 4A and 6A starting on Oct. 12.

          There is no public record of region standings or overall records available for state volleyball teams, which are, as are all sports, required to report results to Maxpreps. Softball standings are available on the GHSA website, based on reports to Maxpreps, which are spotty. They indicate some teams have only played a few games while region opponents have played upwards of 20 games.
