Southwest, Stratford players honored as Macon Touchdown Club opens season on Monday

 

         Players from Southwest and Stratford are the latest Macon Touchdown Club players of the week.

          Back: Senior quarterback Steve Robinson of Southwest threw for 208 yds and two touchdowns while running for 180 yards and two more – for 388 yards in total offense – in the Patriots 30-29 upset of top-10 Bleckley County.

          Co-lineman: Southwest defensive end Marquis Hutchings racked up 15 tackles and two sacks, plus five tackles for loss, in the surprise over Bleckley County.

          Co-lineman: Senior linebacker Brooks Garner of Stratford Brooks had eight tackles, eight assists and a tackle for loss in the 28-12 win over Wilkinson County.

          The trio will be honored Monday night at the Club’s first meeting of the year, with radio host Bill King as the featured speaker.

          The clubs meets every Monday at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth on Pierce Avenue. Dues are $250, for every weekly meeting, which includes dinner, local high school football players of the week, a sponsor spotlight, and an update by a different Bibb County (and Jones County) head coach each week, at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth on Pierce Ave.
