Henley continues solid play in second round

          There wasn’t anything particular dazzling about Russell Henley’s second round at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

          But nobody will complain about steady and consistent, and that’s what Henley was in his second straight 2-under 68, good enough to put him in a tie for 20th in the playoff tournament.

          He is seven back of leaders Denny McCarthy and Hideki Matsuyama.

          Henley again avoided major trouble and fairly escaped minor skirmishes. His lone bogey came on par 4 No. 5 when he did go from rough to bunker, and couldn’t hit a 20-footer for par.

          Among his birdies was a par 5, which has been a rough spot for Henley. He parred the other par 5, No. 3.

          Action starts Saturday at 10:45 a.m., with Henley joined by Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Ben Griffin at 11:29 a.m.
