Macon Touchdown Club jamboree, Smart visit, set

For the first time in three years, the guest speaker at the Macon Touchdown Club’s year-end jamboree will not be sporting the 2023 national championship ring.

But Kirby Smart still has a few others he can show off when he makes his yearly trek to Macon to share the gospel of Georgia football.

His visit is set for March 18 at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth on Pierce Ave.

More details regarding attendance are to come.

Late hiccups drop Henley from contention

For awhile, Russell Henley wasn’t really going anywhere.

He started the final round of the Genesis with a birdie, and then treaded water with pars until another birdie at 11.

But consecutive bogeys a few holes later sent Henley toward an even final round and a tie for 24th finish.

It was still good enough for a check of $164,857.

Henley is next expected to compete in the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches Feb. 29-March 3.
