Scouting reports/predictions
Aquinas, 4-4/3-3, at Howard, 4-4/3-3, Thompson, 5:30 p.m.
Aquinas is ranked ahead of Howard in the power ratings, and the Huskies need a win to stay alive for an at-large spot from Region 4-AAA. Aquinas lost 19-7 to Baldwin on Oct. 18, and Howard fell to the Braves 49-36 last Thursday. The Fighting Irish and Jim Franklin pass for 174.1 yards a game, more than double that of Howard, who’s air attack is improving.
TSR Prediction: Howard by 4 (Upset special)
West Laurens, 7-2/5-2, at Baldwin, 5-3/5-1
The Raiders ride a rushing game of 254.4 yards a game, led by Ty Cummings, who gets 147.5. The Braves are more balanced, with quarterback Lamar Pounds and running back Sadur Salahuddin teaming for 23.98 by air and ground. Both teams are in the playoffs, and are playing for an automatic spot and higher seed in Region 4-AAA, and a home game. Baldwin still has an outside shot at the top seed.
TSR prediction: Baldwin by 8
Jefferson County, 0-8/0-7, at Bleckley County
The Royals are trying to improve their playoff seeding from being tied for seventh with East Laurens. Jefferson County is improving, having scored in three games in a row after being shut out in five straight games.
TSR prediction: Bleckley County by 27
