Baldwin’s Bullard, Bleckley County’s Mims make All-SEC

A pair of Central Georgians are among more than a dozen UGA players to make the All-SEC preseason team.

Baldwin’s Javon Bullard is a first-team pick on defense and Bleckley County’s Amarius Mims a first-team pick on offense.

Bullard started 10 of 14 games last year, and was fifth with 46 tackles. He was the defensive MVP in the semifinal win over Ohio State and in the national championship win over TCU.

Mims played in 14 games and started one, mostly at left tackle.

Both are juniors.

Second-round struggles for Henley, misses cut

Ever so slowly, the second round of the British Open got away from Russell Henley, and he missed the cut.

After three pars to get going, Henley bogeyed No. 4, then parred until No. 8. Three more bogeys on the back nine followed, Henley unable to manage a birdie all day.

He finished 5 over for the day and 7 over for the weekend, one of 15 top-50 players to miss the cut.

Macon nips Lexington County

A two-run seventh put Macon on top for good in an 8-7 win over visiting Lexington County.

Manny Jackson and Matthew Delay Jr. each had two hits for Macon from the bottom of the lineup.
