Lexington County tops Macon again

Single runs in late innings were the difference as Lexington County survived Macon’s comeback for a 5-3 win in Coastal Plain action at Luther Williams Field.

Macon trailed 3-1, then tied it with two in the fifth only for the visitors to get one in the sixth and seventh and hold on.

Benjamin Schechterman and John-Reagan Freethy each had two hits for Macon, which struck out nine times. FPD grad Austin Emener struck out five with no walks in two shutout innings of relief. He was incorrectly given the loss by the Bacon stat crew, starter Maxwell Montplaisir having given up four runs in 5.1 innings.

John Milledge grad and Georgia College Bobcat Brandon Bellflower led Lexington County with three hits and two RBI from the eighth spot.

Macon is at Forest City on Monday, and then hosts the Owls on Tuesday and Wednesday.
