Dublin's girls and Bleckley County's Luke Churchwell needed a little extra room on the bus ride home from the final day of the GHSA state track meets.

The Irish girls won a pair of relays, and Churchwell followed his championship in the 1,600 with Saturday wins in the 800 and 3,200.

Veterans girls (Class 5A), Bleckley County's boys and girls (Class A/Division I) and Dublin's girls (A/I) as well as GMC's boys and girls and Hawkinsville's girls (A/II) were the lone Central Georgia teams with top 10 finishes in their respective classes.

Nobody from Central Georgia scored points in Class 5A girls, and Class 3A boys managed only two points.

Dublin's girls took home hardware, winning the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, with the first three legs in both run by Caitlyn Nesbitt, Azoria Lovett, and Karmyn Jordan, and final legs by Ire Covington and Tahara Diallo.

The 4x100 team nipped Mount Pisgah by the narrowest of margins in a photo finish, 49.530 to 49.535. The 4x400 relay team took third.

Nesbitt also had a fifth in the 100 and seventh in the 200.

Luke Churchwell will have to make room, winning the 800 and 3,200. He won the 1,600 on Friday.

Ella Gibbs won the 3,200 in A/I for Bleckley County, adding to her 1,600-meter title on Friday.           And there were close calls.

Jones County's Zion Ragins was second in the 5A 100 and 200, to Shavique Bascus of Clarke Central in both. It was 21.12 to 21.64 in the 200, and 10.56 to 10.63 in a photo-finish 100.

Veterans' girls were fifth in the 4x200, less than a second out of first. And the boys were second by less than half a second, the boys 4x400 second by less than a second.
