          The Knight errors led to three unearned runs in the opener. Upson-Lee matched Columbus with six hits in the nightcap, but couldn’t convert the hits – it drew no walks- into runs.

Fitzgerald 7, ACE 4; Fitzgerald 4, ACE 3

          The visitors scored five in the first, and then got two in the seventh to counter ACE’s three-run last-inning rally in the opener. The nightcap’s ending?  ACE’s first two batters in the bottom of the seventh were hit, followed by a pop fly, followed by a wild pitch advancing both runners. A grounder to short was next, with the runner being thrown out at home for the second out and the backside runner getting pegged out at third to end the game.

          The Raiders needed only three hits – one a two-run double from Parker Bryant – in the opener, thanks to six Westover errors and five unearned runs. Camden Thomas and Tucker Brown teamed for 12 strikeouts in the two-hitter. Westover’s defense improved, but pitching gave up 22 runs int eh first two innings, and walked 14 batters. Ian Anderson had three hits, Jayden Todd and Matthew Thigpen two hits each and a combined nine RBI. Brown added two hits, three runs, and three RBI. Westover managed three runs in the three-inning game despite no hits, and it went through seven pitchers and 147 pitches.

                     Luke Bailey and Cooper Dasher teamed for a three-hitter, with nine strikeouts and two walks. Nathan Sumner and Jim Coleman each had three hits and Bennett Lake two.

          The Lancers rolled to the district title on the legs of Hannah Riley, who handled all the goals for CFCA, who improved to 9-5-1 while handing Georgia Christian its first loss of the season.
