Henley set for US Open

Russell Henley’s day at the U.S. Open will be over pretty early, the Maconite set for a 7:51 a.m. tee time in the tournament.

He’s with Kevin Kisner and Brian Harman, starting on No. 10 in the seventh group of the opening round.

Henley is ranked 38th in the FedEx Cup rankings, and 49th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He hasn’t played since the PGA Championship in May, skipping three tournaments.

Henley led after 54 holes a year ago in the Open, at Torrey Pines, but a rough front nine on Sunday dropped him into a tie for 13th.

He’s looking to regain his early-season form, when he made 13 straight cuts, shot under par in his first nine tournaments of the season, and eight top-25 finishes through mid-March.

Henley’s best finish since a tie for 13th in the Players Championship in March is a tied for 30th in the Master. And he’s been over part in the last four tournaments, missing the cut in the RBC Heritage.
