Henley squeezes into cut at Wells Fargo
The cut line figure wasn’t forgiving at Wells Fargo, and Russell Henley barely made it.
The Stratford grad was 2 over for the day and even after two rounds to make it, tying for 50th with 15 others, including Matt Kuchar, Russell Knox, Rory McIlroy, and Corey Conners.
Henley’s start was rough, with a bogey on No. 1. He swapped bogeys and birdies at the end of the front nine, and had two more bogeys to only one birdie on the back nine.
Still, that group is only 10 shots behind leader Jason Day.
Henley tees off on No. 10 at 12:07 p.m. Saturday with Knox and Michael Gligic.
BSB-Middle Georgia State eliminated from SSAC tourney
Brewton-Parker scored one in the top of the ninth, aided by an error, and survived a leadoff walk in the bottom half to nip Middle Georgia State in an elimination game of the Southern States Athletic Conference baseball tournament in Columbus.
MGSU, which dropped to 30-19-1, got three-RBI games from Ryan Wilson and Brian Herrera, the pair teaming for five hits and a homer each.
Three Brewton-Parker runs were unearned, two for MGSU, both teams with three errors.
Six MGSU pitchers struck out 13 against seven walks, to 10 and six for the Barons.
