Quarterfinal
Class A Public
Social Circle 5, ACE 4
The third seed from Region 8 took a 3-0 lead after one, and ACE got two back in the fourth. The Redskins added one in the fifth and sixth, and the Gryphons got two more back in the bottom of the sixth. ACE threatened in the bottom of the seventh, with two-out hits from Grant Edwards West and Trevor Derrick, but the Redskins ended it – and ACE’s 25-9 season – with a strikeout. ACE got the leadoff hitter on in five innings and couldn’t convert that into a run, a double play erasing a leadoff single in ACE’s fifth. Edwards went 3 for 3, and Derrick added two hits and Ashton Donaldson two RBI. ACE outhit Social Circle 11-7, and stranded two more runners. ACE beat Social Circle 10-3 and 13-3 last year in the second round.
