Warren County 61, Dublin 60, OT
For the second year in a row, Dublin’s heart was broken at the buzzer by a stunning shot. This time, Warren County’s Lorenzo Johnson pulled up just behind the free-throw line and lofted a hanging-in-the-air jumper that bounced straight up off the back of the rim, touched the front of the top of the backboard, and fell straight down through the net for the game-winner at the horn. A year ago in the semifinals, Hancock Central’s Jamal Taylor – now at Georgia College – took an inbounds pass with 1.5 seconds left and drained a halfcourt shot at the buzzer for a 73-72 win, the Bulldogs then losing by four to Towns County in the finale.

Warren County and Dublin were tied at 13 after one, and the Screaming Devils led 33-27 at halftime. The visitors led 46-43 after three, and were up 52-50 inside the final two minutes. A Dublin turnover was reciprocated and the Irish tied it with 41 seconds left. Dublin had a chance to win in regulation, but a shot from the left corner at the buzzer was off. Dublin took the lead with a 3 in overtime and was up 59-56 with 90 seconds left. The Devils missed a free throw and trailed by two with a minute left. The Irish then made one of two with 38 seconds left for a 60-57 lead. Warren County scored underneath and fouled, but the Irish missed the front end of the bonus. The Screaming Devils inbounded with less than 10 seconds left, and Johnson let it go from 17 feet. Dublin argued that the ball hitting the top of backboard should’ve nullified the basket, but the ball came forward off the top.

Class A Private
FPD 64, St. Francis 53
The Vikings were pretty much in control most of the game with a double-digit lead that the Knights chopped to singles late. But FPD survived a so-so fourth quarter at the line – 10 for 17 -  to advance to its first GHSA semifinal. Sophomore Jakhari Williams stepped up with 18 points for the Vikings, while Jay King added 13. The Vikings led 17-14 after one and started to pull away in the second quarter only for the Knights to cut a 25-14 deficit to 27-22 before the Vikings took a 34-22 halftime lead. FPD controlled the third quarter and led 48-29 entering the fourth. The Knights cut it to single digits halfway through the fourth, but the Vikings kept the margin at two possessions or more.
