The War Eagles controlled from tip to buzzer, holding a whopping 30-16 lead at halftime and 46-20 after three quarters. Brentwood repeated, beating Westwood 46-33 in last year’s final. Westwood had eliminated Piedmont 61-49 in a semifinal.

A-Thomas Jefferson 51, Twiggs 33
          Thomas Jefferson avenged its 70-61 loss to Twiggs in last year’s semifinal with the state championship win.
AAA-St. Andrew’s 49, John Milledge 47
          The Trojans were blanked in the second quarter and trailed 25-21 at halftime, and it was tied at 35 after three quarters, and at 43 with a little more than two minutes left. John Milledge beat Creekside Christian 60-55 in last year’s final, after knocking off St. Andrew’s in the second round.

          TaNiya Pryor had an afternoon, with 23 points and four steals to lead Central. Taliah Grier added 13 points and Trazur Cooper six rebounds.

          The Eaglettes led 23-17 at halftime and 29-28 after three, but gave up the lead amid a scoring drought in the first minutes of the fourth quarter.

The Seminoles led 12-11 after one, 22-16 at halftime, and it was tied at 51 in regulation, the hosts coming back to force the extra period. Jefferson took the lead on a putback of a missed free throw and accompanying free throw with 2:32 left.

Washington County 49, Heard County 25; Next: Butler (R4/2) at Washington County
          The Golden Hawks held the visitors to a hair more than only a dozen points. Javecckio Thomas led the way with 14 pints and eight rebounds, plus four steals. Tra’Vonte Byrd added 10 points and four assists, Caleb Moore six steals, and Willie Henderson seven rebounds.

          Khalil Green led the Eagles with 18, Stratford held to its second-lowest point total of the season in only its second game with less than 50 points.

The Lancers defended their championship and finished with another perfect season after their 50th straight win.

Baseball

Crawford County 16, Peach County 6
Big innings in the second, fourth, and sixth lifted the Eagles, aided by five Trojan errors. Caleb Carr and Griffin Parker had two hits each for Crawfrod County, with two-RBI games from Trace Hodges, Parker, Blake Bishop, and Bubba Taylor. Bryce Harrelson had three of Peach County’s seven hits.

FPD 7, ACE 5
FPD won the first inning 3-2 and the sixth inning 4-3. Gavin Spillers had three hits for the Vikings, with two-hit games form Coleman Cauley, Micah Henley, and Chandler Cawley. Gavin West and Jack Corrigan had two hits for the Gryphons.

Jones County 3, Eastside 0
Landon Califf and Brody Gordon teamed for eight strikeouts in the two-hitter, the Greyhounds winning with small-ball.

Lamar County 12, East Hall 1; Lamar County 12, Clarke Central 3
Lamar County put the first one away with all the scoring in three innings, East Hall helping with six errors. Caden Dewitt and Rhett Blount teamed for a five-inning one-hitter, with seven strikeouts and three walks. Huston Traylor had two hits and three RBI, while Tidwell and Ayden Hollis had two RBI each. The Trojans led 7-3 after two in the second game, and added four in the sixth, aided by five errors. Cam King had four RBI on one hit, and Rhett Blount three on one.

Oconee County 6, Perry 0; Perry 4, Lovett 0
The Panthers were held to two hits in the first game. Carson Bryant returned the favor in the second game, going all seven and striking out nine with a walk on 89 pitches in the small-ball win.

Pierce County 6, Bleckley County 3; Bleckley County 11, Heard County 0

Putnam County 12, Baldwin 1; Putnam County 5, Social Circle 3
The 5-0 War Eagles were in control of the opener early, leading 11-1 after three innings. Gerald Kilgore’s lone hit was a grand slam. Hunter Holder and Mark Winslette each had three hits, with two from Thad Griffin. Winslette, Chase Lupton, and Dakota Jones had two RBI each. A three-run fourth put Putnam County ahead in the second game, six War Eagles with a hit. Ashton Jones and Lupton teamed up on the mound.

Tattnall 9, East Coweta 1; Pacelli 15, Tattnall 6

The Trojans topped No. 9 in 7A with a six-run first and athree-run third, with multiple-hit games from Russ Miller and Charlie Morris. Cooper McMullen threw a five-hit complete-game win, with eight strikeouts.

Veterans 8, Peach County 6, 10 inn.; Veterans 6, Crawford County 1
The 5-2 Warhawks won the first game on two walks, a hit batter, error and groundout, plus a steal of home by Hunter Dryden. Both teams had four errors. Brennan Mercer had three hits and three RBI for Veterans, Drew Bailey two for Peach County. Veterans charged out to a 4-0 lead after two in the second game. Tanner O’Neal had three hits and two RBI, and Jarrett Pierce and Brennan Mercer added two hits each. Brennen Hudson had three of Crawford County’s hits.

West Laurens 7, Hebron Christian 4; Hebron Christian 6, West Laurens 1
A six-run first set the Raiders up in the opener, despite being outhits 9-5. Matthew Thigpen belted a grand slam, and William Kellam had two hits. Raider batters walked 12 times. The Raiders had a 10-5 hits advantage I the nightcap, but also three errors and struck out 11 times. Kellam had three hits and Jace Thompson two.
