John Milledge 42, Creekside Christian 40
A roller coaster of a game ended when Marcus Prestwood started on the right block, moved to the left block to take an under-the-basket inbounds pass from Banks Eady, and banked in the game-winner in the final second to put JMA in the GISA Class AAA final. The Trojans were down 15-2 after one, and took their first lead of the game with 1:16 left in the half on a 3 from Jalan Butts. John Milledge led 38-31 after three, and promptly went into a huge drought, going scoreless in the fourth quarter until 2:20, after Creekside tied it at 38.
The Trojans missed the front end of a one-and-one with 21.6 seconds left, and Creekside tied with 12 seconds left. A Trojan shot was blocked, but off Creekside out of bounds with 3.3 seconds left. Prestwood got position, got the pass, pump-faked, and went up with the game-winner. Butts had 14 points to go with Keith Robbins’ 15 points and seven rebounds. Prestwood was big all game, racking up a 10-point/11-rebound double double.
The Trojans will play St. Andrews, a 47-15 winner over Southland, in the championship Saturday night.
