Big second round vaults Henley into top 20
Russell Henley went from sweating out the cut line to near contention at the Genesis Invitational in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
The Maconite shot a first-round 72, putting him in the back of the pack after three bogeys and a double bogey on the front nine.
But he rebounded with six birdies and one bogey for a 5-under 66 to lift him into a tie for 22nd at 5 under.
Joaquin Niemman leads at 16 under 126, with a pair of 63s.
He made the second-biggest jump from the first to second round, 55 spots. Erik van Rooyen cut nine shots off from the first round to improve 66 spots into a tie for 31st.
