GHSA wrestling: Two Central Georgians reach finals, go for trophies on Saturday (Central Georgia results)

          A pair of Central Georgians will wrestle for state championships Saturday morning when the GHSA state traditional wrestling tournament wraps up at the Macon Coliseum.

Central Georgia’s 2021 state results

          East Laurens’ Trysten Baker and Tattnall’s Grady Tisdale will be among those ready to go for trophies when action starts at 10 a.m.

          No Central Georgia teams are in the hunt for any state titles, but 10 more area wrestlers will try to score points in battles for third and fifth place. Northeast has three competitors, with two from Lamar County and two from Dublin, as well as wrestlers from Dodge County, Crawford County, and Mount de Sales.

          Baker improved to 43-4 at 170 in Class AA with three pins on Friday, in 1:46, 4:55, and 3:31. Opponent Matthew Waddell won his two matches 7-3 and 5-3 to improve to 37-4.

          Tisdale goes for the Class A title at 170 against Commerce’s Brayden Phillips. Tisdale won 16-0 and 11-3, while Phillips followed a 7-2 win with a fall. Tisdale is 19-2, Phillips 8-0.

          Tisdale finished sixth last year at 145.

          Northeast’s Jarrdarrious Goolsby and Demonte Flowers go for third place while Jalin Linder will battle for fifth place.

          Lamar County’s Braden Pines and Christian Bostic are joined by Dodge County’s Landynn Powers in third-place bouts in Class AA, Crawford County’s Braelyn Cain and Dublin’s Antonio Benjamin representing the area in Class A third-place matchups.

          Mount de Sales’ Elijah Batchelor and Dublin’s Angel Cardenas are in Class A fifth-place meetings.

          Last year, Bostic was sixth in Class AA 182, and Batchelor was fourth in Class A 106, Cain sixth at 152.
