Kaplan named to Southern Tennis Foundation post

Macon tennis and charity staple Jaime Kaplan has a new job, and she’ll be spending more time in her favorite sport.

Kaplan was named as the Southern Tennis Foundation’s director of foundation development and operations.

The move was announced Wednesday by USTA Southern Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer Matt Olson.

Kaplan, who left a position at the United Way of Central Georgia several months ago, was inducted into the STF’s Hall of Fame in 2019, adding to her membership in the Georgia Tennis, Macon, and Georgia Sports halls of fame.

She was given the USTA Eve Kraft Award in 2008 for her volunteer work in tennis.

The Stratford grad – who attended Georgia and graduated from Florida State - has been head coach at her alma mater since 2005, and spend the last three-plus decades involved in non-profit and charity fund-raising work.

“Jaime comes to the Southern Tennis Foundation with an outstanding record in fundraising and organization. Her connections in and knowledge of the Southern tennis community will make her a cornerstone in expanding the foundation’s philanthropic mission,” said STF Chairman Derek White in a release.

From the organization’s website: “The STF is an independent volunteer-led 501(c)3 organization that provides needs-based scholarships, grants to assist competitive junior players, grants for youth-oriented programs, and emergency assistance to programs, pros and players. Donations are tax-exempt, and every dollar donated to the STF goes back to programs and players in the Southern states.”
