Perry 49, Rutland 7

          Rutland battled and trailed only 7-0 after a quarter. But third-ranked Perry was in the red zone at the end of the quarter, and scored early in the second quarter en route to a 35-0 halftime lead. The Panthers picked off a pass inside the 10 to stop one Rutland second-quarter drive, and cruised to 4-0 in both teams’ region opener.

          A whopping 18 runs in the first inning led to a three-inning game. The Cobras had five errors and gave up six walks. Laney Bridges, Regan Foster, Dixiana Sims, and Destiny Lucas had two hits each, Sims driving in four runs.

          The Trojans had seven errors, leading to 12 unearned runs in the opener, a Jackson no-hitter.  Peach County’s six errors led to seven unearned runs in the nightcap, a one-hitter from Jackson pitching.

          Jasmine Stone, Taylor Rutledge, and Hailey Hooberry had two hits each for Jasper County, Rutledge and Maddi SPieks with two RBI apiece.

John Milledge 10, Edmund Burke 0 15 0

Northside 16, Warner Robins 4

          A six-run third put the Eagles in control, Samantha VonWaldner and Celena Luna teaming for seven strikeouts in four innings. Audra Carroll went 3 for 4 with three runs and three RBI for Northside. Casey Ruffin and Madelyne Lee added two hits and two RBI each.

Rutland 16, Spalding 11

Stratford 9, FPD 1

Tattnall 6, West Laurens 2

          The Raiders’ 2-0 lead lasted the first three innings until the Trojans’ two-run fourth. Kaci Paul had three hits and Isabelle Pecorilli two for the Trojans, Pecorilli with two runs and two RBI. Hailey Daughtry struck out six with no walks in the complete-game five-hitter.

West Laurens 15, Howard 0

          The Raiders needed only three innings, and Alyssa Jones gave up one hit in the game moved to Tattnall. Makayla Register  went 3 for 3 with three RBI, while Jones, Emma Rinner, and Taylor Sapp each had two hits. West Laurens (16-5/11-0) hosts Perry on Tuesday while Howard (7-7, 4-4) welcomes Spalding on Monday.
