The Central Georgia Sports Report

Who's going to win this week's Central Georgia high school football games?

Last week: 19-6

Season: 91-31, 74.6 percent
Within 7 points of margin: 7, 20 for the season

A note: The Sports Report policy is to max out picks at 39 points although some games could earn a predicted margin of victory in the 40s and 50s.

Games of the Week

Lee County (5-0/6A) at Warner Robins (4-0)
A hefty game? That should have the home side full but won’t? This one. Warner Robins has been ranked every week since the second game of the 2017 season, and Lee County has been ranked every week since the 2016 opener. One team has a whole lot more “major prospects”, but the other team just plays great high school football.
TSR pick: Warner Robins by 6

Bleckley County (4-0) at Dodge County (3-1)
The Royals have scored one more point than the Indians, who have given up 20 fewer points. Action and hits galore in one of those glorious “just down the road” rivalries. The primary team colors are purple for the Royals and red for the Indians, and there’ll be plenty of black and blue Saturday morning.
TSR pick: Dodge County by 5

Washington County (3-0) at Lamar County (3-1)
Lamar County has had a week to stew after losing 17-0 to Pacelli, and to get ready for the Golden Hawks’ single-wing offense. Washington County is thrilled to be playing a third straight game.
TSR pick: Washington County by 13

Aquinas (4-0) at Tattnall (3-0)
Not the greatest homecoming scheduling in the world. Aquinas is on the verge of a top-10 ranking, with two AAA wins, and a thumping of FPD. The Trojans’ D will get a test.
TSR pick: Aquinas by 8

Notables

Northside (4-1) at Colquitt County (4-1/7A)
The Eagles are a major underdog against the Packers of former Jones County head coach Justin Rogers, but it’s still a good gauge of progress to compete.
TSR pick: Colquitt County by 28

Laney (3-1, 1-0) at Putnam County (4-0, 1-0)
Can Laney slow down the Kilgores? Gerald is ninth in AA with 480 passing yards, and Jalon has nine catches for 186 yards, and is off a big defensive game against Westside-Augusta: 10 tackles, two for loss, forced a fumble and broke up two passes.
TSR pick: Putnam County by 9

Dooly County (2-2, 1-1) at Dublin (1-2, 1-0)
The Irish cruised 50-0 last year. That won’t happen again, not the 50, or the 0, nor the cruising. But the same winner.
TSR pick: Dublin by 15

Gatewood (2-1/AA) at John Milledge (4-0/AAA)

The Trojans aren’t quite hammering opponents like last year, but that can change at any given time. Not expecting it to be this week.

TSR pick: John Milledge by 29
