Alumni Update

Bills cut Houston County grad Fromm

Despite a decent preseason, Houston County grad Jake Fromm was among the final-day cuts by Buffalo on Tuesday, as basically expected.

Fromm went 21 of 36 for 172 yards in the preseason, including leading a comeback win over Detroit and rushing for  TD against Green Bay.

He was the “quarantine” QB last year, hardly interacting with the team to decrease the chances of getting COVID, so he was available if a quarterback ahead of him tested positive.

Buffalo will kep only two quarterbacks, Josh Allen and Mitch Trubisky, which is considered a gamble, but fits the Bills.

The team will start putting together its practice squad on Wednesday. Teams have until 4 p.m. Wednesday to claim players on waivers.

The Bills like both Fromm and Davis Webb for different reasons, and at least one is likely to get called back for the practice squad if not claimed.
