Virginia 3, Georgia 0

          Weather stopped the game Tuesday night, and Virginia added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth to win the small-ball battle. Georgia had one more hit, but also four errors en route to allowing all unearned runs. Dudley’s Cheyann Phillips fanned nine with two walks, as did Virginia’s two pitchers. Georgia was eliminated, and Virginia went on to beat North Carolina to win the region title and advance.

Savannah 8, Macon 7

          The Bacon led 2-1 after one, gave up four in the second, trailed 8-2 after seven and scored five in the eight only to fall short. Ashton Roy and Dondrae Bremner had three hits each for Macon, and Tattnall grad Logan Fink drove in two runs.had three hits for Macon,

Signings

          Will Freeman, a huge factor in Baldwin’s run to GHSA Class 4A boys state championship in 2020-21, is headed up I-75 to play at Life, an NAIA program in Marietta. Freeman’s game-winner with 3.8 seconds left gave the Braves a 54-53 win over Fayette County at the Macon Coliseum.
