Bleckley County grad Raffield picked in MLB draft
In late May, Carter Raffield entered the college baseball transfer portal, intending to leave Clemson after two years.
Now, he has another major decision to deal with.
The Bleckley County grad at Clemson, and was picked by Cincinnati in the 14th round with the 420th pick on Tuesday.
Raffield is a redshirt freshman who was 0-2 in 2021 with a 5.68 ERA, .217 opponents’ batting average and 25 strikeouts in 19.0 innings pitched over eight appearances (six starts) in 2021.
In the shortened 2020 season, he went 1-0 with a 1.17 ERA in four appearances.

Bobby Lamb now starting a program at Anderson
Former Mercer football coach Bobby Lamb was introduced Tuesday afternoon as the first head coach in Anderson (S.C.) history.
Lamb spent last year as a volunteer assistant at Louisiana-Lafayette after being dismissed at Mercer after the 2019 season.
The 58-year-old was hired almost a decade ago to jumpstart things at Mercer.
