             The Central Georgia coaching carousel made an announcement stop Monday at Rutland and Mount de Sales.

            Rutland announced Jarmarcus Johnson as its new head football coach, less than a week after Rusty Easom was approved to take the same position at Griffin. Which is where Johnson coached with his predecessor.

            Mount de Sales has a new boys basketball coach, girls basketball coach, and wrestling coach, as per an evening release.

            Johnson, a Mary Persons and Georgia Southern grad, was approved by the Macon-Bibb board on Monday night. He has coached at Griffin and at Mary Persons twice.

            Kimberly Laguines is Mount de Sales new head girls basketball coach, replacing Adrienne Hixon.

            She comes from the Warner Robins girls staff, and has been head coach at Central Fellowship. She has bachelor’s in biology and minor in chemistry, with a Master’s in science education.

            Deion Taylor takes over the boys basketball program from Kenny Elliott, who has moved to Florida.

            Taylor graduated from St. Augustine High in New Orleans and the University of Richmond.

            He played on his alma mater’s 2012 state title team, and was an assistant at St.  Augustine, which won the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s 2021 Division I state title.

            Also coming in from New Orleans is wrestling coach Carsten Franklin, who is returning to Mount de Sales. Franklin was a wrestling assistant at Brother Martin High in New Orleans, helping the team to two Division I state titles. He also was a varsity football linebackers coach.

            He is an LSU grad and will teach history.

            The release reiterated that Kenny Epps was assuming the role of athletics director, formerly held by head football coach Keith Hatcher, as of July 1.

The school announced in February that Hatcher was leaving the AD role for a position in the advancement office and work on outreach to alumni and the public.
