Georgia College snags Hancock Central standout
Just less than two months ago, Georgia College head men’s basketball coach Mark Gainous watched the action in the GHSA state championships at the Macon Coliseum, and assorted players caught his eye.
He signed one of them Friday, in Hancock Central guard and multi-sport standout Jamal Taylor.
Taylor was the Region 7-A Public player of the year in football and basketball, and helped the Bulldogs to the 2020 state basketball title and 2021 runner-up.
The 3.5-GPA student cracked 2,000 points in his career, averaging 17.5 points as a senior, and hitting a pair of buzzer-beating game-winners in the playoffs in early March. The Bulldogs lost 64-60 to Towns County in the Class A Public final.
