Wednesday's Daily News 'n Notes: Scoreboard; Georgia College; UGA, Tech women/ NCAAs; Pickens hurt; Tech's spring delayed; Hawks; Rush Propst; and more

GMC 15, Twiggs County 5

Jones County 12, Dutchtown 3

          The Greyhounds took control with three in the third and put it away late. Aiden Payne, Keagan Baxter, Jacob Thompson, Conner Bass, and Dawson Harris each had two hits for Jones County, Thompson driving in three runs. Thompson whiffed eight with no walks in 6.2 innings.

Northside 10, Rutland 2

          Rutland had more errors than Northside’s Levi Walker had hits, 5-4. Cam Staten had three this and DC Coney two for the Eagles, who had seven in the hit column. Walker went 6.2 innings in relief and struck out 11 with no walks and a hit.

West Laurens 4, Baldwin 0

          Colton Scott and Jace Clark teamed for the no-hitter, Scott with 11 strikeouts in five innings. Tyler Franks had two of the Raiders’ seven hits, scoring twice, while Eli Floyd drove in two runs.

Upson-Lee 10, Whitewater 5

          Both teams had nine hits, but five pitchers kept Whitewater from doing much with its hits. Jeremiah Hill struck out seven in a four-inning start for the Knights. Jordan Wainwright and Logan Spivey had two hits each, while Beau Ellington scored three times and drove in two runs.
