          TJ Grant led the undefeated Warhawks with 24 points, DeAngelo Hines adding another 19.

          The Golden Hawks had no trouble in the first-round game, led by Quinton Knight’s 18 points and five steals. Jairus Brown added 16 points, six boards, and four steals, Caleb Moore 12 points and five rebounds, and J.T. Thomas 11 rebounds.

          Tre Grane’s finale was a solid one, with 16 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

          Bleckley County had five more hits and one less error, but stranded 10 runners and struck out 14 times. J.R. Fordham had three hits for the Royals and Matt Huff two, plus two RBI.

Mary Persons 3, Howard 2

          The Bulldogs pushed one across in the sixth for the lead and held on. Thomas Willingham, Thomas Brooks, and Aric Mock had two hits each for Mary Persons, which got 14 strikeouts from Jaden Bankston in a complete-game four-hitter.

Newton 9, Jasper County/Monticello 7

          A three-run fifth did the Purple Hurricanes in, despite Newton’s five errors. Tristan Humphries and Mac Barton had two hits each for Jasper County, Humphries scoring twice and Barton driving in two runs.

          An early big inning – four in the first – got the Warhawks going, and six in the fourth sealed it. Blake Ethridge drove in five runs, while Mark Lauritsen, Clifford Pless and Al Lorenzo twice, along with Ethridge. Hunter Johnson had two hits for the Eagles.
