GHSA wrestling: Jones County, Veterans have top-4 wrestlers, finish in top 20

Coming later Saturday: The final team results with Central Georgia’s places, and Central Georgia wrestlers who finished in the top four.

          Veterans and Jones County finished in the top 20 of Class 5A in the GHSA state traditional wrestling championships, and each had individuals place in the top four on Saturday as the event came to a close.

          Classes 5A and 7A finished consolation and championship action.

          Jones County’s 73.5 points were good for 12th while Veterans was 15 points back at 17th. Woodland-Cartersville won the 5A title with 243 points.

          Veterans’ Latrell Shafer at 138 and Tanner Vorse at 152 picked up third-place finishes, while Jones County’s Christian Anderson finished fourth at 220.

Class 5A

120-Bryce Boland, Jones County: won 11-1; lost 9-3

138- Latrell Shafer, Veterans: won by fall, 4:40; won 11-6; won by injury forfeit for third place

152-Tanner Vorse, Veterans: won 11-0; won by fall, 1:54; won 8-5 for third place

182-Gabriel Anderson, Jones County: lost 10-5

195- Daniel Scott, Jones County: won 7-2; lost 11-4

220-Christian Anderson, Jones County: won by fall, 1:42; lost by fall, 5:52, for third place
