Peach County’s Fineran makes All-Big 10

Former Peach County standout Mitchell Fineran of Purdue is an honorable mention all-Big Ten placekicker.

The conference is releasing the teams on Wednesday.

Four kickers – from Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State, and Illinois – made up the first three teams.

Fineran was second in the conference with 20 made field goals, and his 80 percent rate was third. His 48-yarder was tied for eighth. The transfer from Samford was sixth in the Big Ten in scoring with 96 points, going 36 of 38 on PATs.

Mary Persons’ Holden takes conference honor

Peach County’s Jackson gets another All-ACC pick, Washington County’s Brooks tapped

After finishing the regular season third in the conference in tackles, Peach County alum Quez Jackson earned second-team All-ACC honors.

Jackson averaged 8.6 tackles a game, third behind Nick Jackson of Virginia and Mikel Jones of Syracuse. He’s seventh in fumbles recovered and tied for sixth in fumble returns.

Jackson became the first Jacket with more than 100 tackles in a season since P.J. Davis in 2014. He’s 33rd nationally in tackles per game, second on the team with eight TFL.s

Brooks leaves his mark as a walk-on who became an impact player and starter, and departs with honorable mention honors. He led the Jackets defensive line with 30 tackles – good for 11th on the team - a forced fumble, and fumble recovery with 1.5 tackles for loss.
