Alumni Update

Dublin’s Smith has jersey retired at Jacksonville
Dublin grad and current head boys basketball coach Ben Smith was back in a second hometown on Saturday when Jacksonville retired his jersey at halftime of the Dolphins’ game with North Carolina A&T. Smith was a four-time Atlantic Sun all-conference pick, led the Dolphins in scoring three times, was A-Sun All-Freshman, and two-time all-tournament pick. He’s second at JU in scoring, and first in assists and steals, among the many places his name sits in the record books.

Henley only two back entering final round

Russell Henley’s weekend is befitting the Houston Open: Nobody know what’s going to happen on a given day.

The Maconite was two-under Saturday go to five under for the weekend and sits in a tie for seventh, only two shots back of leader Scottie Sheffler.

Of the top 13 golfers, all but two have at least one above-70 round so far, with Martin Trainer staying in a tie for second despite Saturday’s 74.

Henley followed Friday’s 72 with a 68, and is tied with Jason Kokrak and Luke List. He had four birdies and two bogeys on Saturday.

Henley tees off at 10:48 a.m. on No. 1.
