Creekview 8, Houston County 0; Creekview 11, Houston County 5; Houston County eliminated

Class 5A

Calhoun 8, Veterans 0; Calhoun 10, Veterans 1; Veterans eliminated

Jones County 2, Walnut Grove 1; Jones County 14, Walnut Grove 2; Jones County advances
          The Greyhounds got the walk-off with two outs in the opener when K Kent’s grounder to second was mishandled, allowing Aniya Canty to score, Canty opening the inning by getting hit by a pitch. Walnut Grove scored in the seventh to tie it. Destin Howard had two hits for the Greyhounds, while going the full nine in the circle, striking out 14 and walking four with five hits. The only suspense in the nightcap was how quickly the Greyhounds would end it, and they needed only four innings, thanks to seven runs in the top of the inning, Jones County helped by seven errors and nine unearned runs. Shayla Pennington had two hits and two RBI, Brianna Edmonson and Megan Hamilton also driving in two runs each.

Class 4A

Flowery Branch 13, Perry 0; Flowery Branch 8, Perry 3; Perry eliminated
          The visitors scored in four innings to end it there, throwing a one-hitter and taking advantage of 10 errors, getting 10 unearned runs. Flowery Branch led 4-2 after two in the nightcap and sealed it with back to back two-run innings. AliRae Dykes had three hits, and Ava Garrett and Ashley Kay Moon two each for the Panthers, who had only one error but struck out 12 times.

West Laurens 5, Jefferson 0; Jefferson 6, West Laurens 3

Class AA

Bremen 7, Bleckley County 0; Bremen 3, Bleckley County 0; Bleckley County eliminated
          Bremen took a 2-0 lead after one, and that was enough, the Royals leaving nine runners on. Rebecca Bowling had two hits for Bleckley County. The Royals’ bats were quieted in the nightcap one-hitter, Bremen getting all three runs in the first.

Heard County 14, Dodge County 13; Heard County 23, Dodge County 8; Dodge County eliminated

Class A Public

ACE 4, Bryan County 0; ACE 8, Bryan County 4
          Dixiana Sims fanned 14 with one walk in a three-hitter for the opening win. Laney Bridges had four hits and Madisyn Haller two, Haller and Karsyn Yates each with a triple. ACE stranded eight and had eight more hits. ACE had a 14-3 hits advantage in the second game, but also had three errors and needed extra innings. The Gryphons scored four in the top of the eighth, two on Sims’ double to center and two on L Mitchell’s homer to left three pitches later. Sims shut the door in the bottom half on six pitches to keep the Gryphons undefeated in 27 games.
