          From Mobile to Milwaukee to Atlanta, Hank Aaron was the hometown hero.

          He grew to be one of America’s heroes, for his underrated skill on the field and astounding mettle off of it.

          Aaron died at the age of 86, peacefully in his sleep. New broke a little before 11 a.m. on Friday, and reaction was fitting of an icon whose impact went almost incomprehensibly beyond just hitting home runs.
